Our Mission

The American Bully Kennel Club (ABKC) is the premier multi-breed registry and governing body for the American Bully and associated bully breeds. Founded with a mission to promote responsible breeding practices, education, and sportsmanship, the ABKC has grown into a worldwide community of passionate breed enthusiasts.

ABKC is a multi-breed registry. While the American Bully is our flagship breed, we also register and support other bully breeds. Our registry is committed to preserving the quality, purity, and health of all recognized breeds.

What We Do

The ABKC maintains breed standards for the American Bully and other recognized bully breeds. For the American Bully, four varieties are recognized: Standard, Classic, Pocket, and XL. We sanction hundreds of conformation shows annually, train and certify judges, and maintain the official multi-breed registry for pedigree documentation.

Code of Ethics

All ABKC members, breeders, judges, and exhibitors are expected to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct. By participating in ABKC activities, you agree to the following principles:

Promote the health, welfare, and responsible breeding of all registered breeds.
Provide honest and accurate information on all registration documents, pedigrees, and health records.
Treat all dogs humanely and ensure they receive proper veterinary care, nutrition, and socialization.
Conduct all breeding activities with the goal of improving breed quality and temperament, never solely for profit.
Display good sportsmanship at all ABKC-sanctioned events and respect the decisions of certified judges.
Refrain from any form of animal abuse, neglect, or misrepresentation.
Support and mentor new members and exhibitors entering the ABKC community.
Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding animal ownership, breeding, and sales.

Violations of the Code of Ethics may result in suspension or revocation of ABKC membership, registration privileges, and show participation rights.

Filing a Formal Complaint

If you wish to file a formal complaint regarding a registration dispute, breeder conduct, or show-related issue, please follow the process below:

Submit a written complaint to the ABKC office with the subject line "Formal Complaint."
Include your full name, ABKC member number, and contact information.
Provide a detailed description of the issue, including dates, locations, and names of all parties involved.
Attach any supporting documentation, such as contracts, correspondence, photos, or registration papers.
The ABKC board will acknowledge receipt within 5 business days.
An investigation will be conducted, and all involved parties will be given an opportunity to respond.
The ABKC board will issue a determination within 30 business days of receiving all relevant information.

There is a one-year statute of limitations for any contests involving litters, pedigrees, or registration disputes.

ABKC reserves the right to refuse registration for any dog that does not meet breed criteria. While the breed remains in a developmental phase and studbooks are open for a limited time, registration standards continue to become more stringent to preserve the quality, purity, and health of the American Bully breed.
